DAN / BODEGA STORE / BOSTON / NIKE FREE TRAIL 5.0 x SOPHNET
My personal favourite for 2007 would have to be the Nike X Sophnet Free Trail 5.0. This limited release was offered in three different colors – black, sable and grey. The upper and inner liner featured a solid grid pattern while the body was constructed of perforated leather for a very clean look. To be honest I have never been a big fan of the Free, the design always reminded me of Aquasocks, which are great for the beach but seem out of place otherwise.
Even though many customers swore to me that it was the most comfortable shoe they had ever worn, I still was not convinced. One day I decided to try on a pair and lo and behold, a great light shone down upon me. Ever since that day I have become a believer, for those of us who are always on our feet, nothing beats this shoe. The Nike Free offers great flexibility in both the mid and forefoot, with lightweight breathable material.
I would have to say this was one of the smartest collaborations resulting in a very sophisticated shoe.
